Endocrine and Nervous System

Endocrine System
The Endocrine system is also known as the hormone system because of its function of sectreting chemicals throughout the bloodstreem by glands.  The six major glands of the endocrine system are: thyroid, parathyroids, adrenals, overies, testicles and the pancres.  Both mammles, ex the rat, and anphibians, the frog contain these.   The pancres is also classified as a gland because it makes and moves digestive enzymes throughout the body.

One main hormone in our body is the morphogenetic hormone.  It contributes to growth and development in the body ex.hormones of thyroid gland.

The Nervous System

The nervous system is one of the main systems in your body. It contributes to everyday life because it controls every function in your body!  It coordinates activity in the muscles, processes sensory data, and monitors organs!

The nervous system consists of two systems, the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system(PNS).  The CNS is made of of the spinal cord and the brain.  Located under the spine, the spinal cord is made up of bundles of nerves in which is connected directly to your brain.  The PNS is made up of little nerve cells called neurons.  They neurons play a big roll in maintaining orderly body functions by carrying electrical impulses.

The Frog, Rat and Human have quite similar nervous systems.  They are all highly develpoed, concist of a brain, spinal cord, and nerves.  But unlike the rat and human containing 12 cranial nerves, and 31 spinal nerves, the frog only has 10 cranial and spinal nerves each.

Endocrine and Nervous System Compare/Contrast

The Endocrine and nervous system are similar is ways yet different in others. One way they are different is that endocrine uses blood vessles to move chemicals throughout the body while the nervous system uses nerves. A few things they share similar is the fact that a main function of their systems is secreting chemicals and controling activities of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems.
